Welcome to Tattoo Topics

Tattoo Topics is a website containing various helpful articles, information and helpful links for those that are interested in getting a tattoo, already have a tattoo or just interested in the art of tattooing itself.

Tattoos and the art of tattooing is not anything new.  In fact, it has been around for thousands of years.  Archeologist have uncovered mummies, including those of women that have tattoos on them.  The oldest tattoo ever found to date is the one found on Ötzi the Tyrolean iceman found in the Alps. With an age of  5300 year old, it is undisputed that tattooing is indeed an ancient art.  Here are some of the ancient cultures found to have been involved in tattooing:

  • Pazyryk

  • Egyptian

  • Polynesian

  • Japanese

  • Chinese

  • Maori (New Zealand)

  • Indonesian

  • Thailand

  • African

  • Peruvian

Exactly where tattooing started and why it started is unclear.  Some say it may have been for medicine, religious reasons, or a form of visual defense against other tribes.  The real reason tattooing started may never be known.

The fact is, in current times tattooing is very popular and is becoming even more popular with the introduction of TV reality shows centered around tattoo studios.

Regardless of the reason for your interest in tattoos, check our site out.  You will find we have some interesting things to share.
